Retail Reboot? Arch-Con hires retail vice president, sees resurgence

Unpredictable is a word that has described today’s construction market with the cost of materials spiking and supply chain lagging thanks in large part to the global pandemic. Despite this fickle market, Arch-Con has seen a steady stream of interest in retail projects.

“We are really seeing a reboot in retail,” Arch-Con Senior Vice President of Retail Marc MacConnell said. “Since the second half of 2021, the amount of bidding for retail projects has more than doubled since the summer of 2020.”

This rising trend coupled with the company’s steady growth, Arch-Con tapped construction veteran Keegan Myers to lead the company’s Retail Division in Houston. Keegan has more than 15 years of diverse experience in the construction industry on the field and in the office with projects totaling nearly $600 million. Myers holds a degree in construction science and management from Kansas State University, has a passion for building and holds a Project Management Professional (PMP) certification.

“I started my education in engineering but quickly moved into construction science because I loved the building process,” Myers said. “Working in the field allowed me to truly know how the field works and moving into estimating, project management and now business development, I’m able to lead all aspects which I enjoy.”

Arch-Con’s Retail Division is seeing volatility in the market but is managing through it by measured means. “We are looking at every potential angle in order to make educated assessments and provide our clients best and worst-case scenarios,” Myers said. “With this depth of information, they can make the best possible decisions for each development they undertake.”

MacConnell said admiringly of Myers, “Keegan eats and breathes construction and understands our systems and processes. He listens to construction Podcasts in his spare time putting him a step ahead of everyone else. He’s an impressive addition to the team.”
