Arch-Con promotes Matt Norwood to vice president, now leading Central Texas Industrial Division

Arch-Con® Corporation is pleased to promote Matt Norwood to vice president to lead Arch-Con’s Industrial Division in Central Texas. Norwood has been with Arch-Con since 2017, responsible for the project management of $500 million and 8 million square feet of industrial projects during his career at Arch-Con.

Norwood graduated from Texas A&M and began his career in the field for a pipeline construction company. When Hurricane Harvey hit, the company received substantial damage due to the flooding and had to lay off their staff. He came to work for

Arch-Con where his uncle works in the field as a senior superintendent in Arch-Con’s Multifamily Division. Norwood too was thinking he would work as a superintendent but was first assigned an assistant project manager position in the Industrial Division. “I was ready and willing to go back into the field after my first assignment,” Norwood reflected. “But I learned so much from my colleagues in this position and really enjoyed the project management side of construction. I feel like having worked in the field, I understand and have the upmost respect for everyday challenges on the job site.”

Norwood has worked on five build-to-suit industrial projects for Home Depot for various developers in four different locations and three different states totaling $280 million in contract value. Two in Houston, one in San Antonio, one in Denver and the more recent in Stockton, California. He ran the project management for the two in Houston. And two of his most recent projects have been unique rail-fed and rail-served projects. “These five projects were the most rewarding and the most challenging,” Norwood said. “Extreme cost escalations, weather impacts, intricate conveyor systems, railways literally built to run into the facilities, you name it. I learned to team up and work through it all.”

When Norwood had the opportunity to move from Houston to Arch-Con’s Austin office three years ago, he was eager. “My wife’s family is from Kerrville, Texas and we were starting a family. The transition just worked. Now we have two little girls,” Norwood said.

“We’re excited for Matt to lead our continued growth across Central Texas,” Arch-Con President Jason Cooper said. “Matt’s ability to learn, collaborate, adapt and lead has earned him the trust of his clients and our organization.”

Norwood’s vision for leading the Industrial Division in Central Texas is clear. “My goal is to build an industrial team with quality project managers and quality superintendents with a reputation of being trustworthy, reliable and dependable.”

In May, Norwood will be breaking ground south of San Antonio on his first project as vice president, an 86,000-square-foot pre-engineered metal building for a repeat client. Norwood said he is actively bidding projects under 100,000 square feet and more than 400,000 square feet and the San Antonio project fits right into that scope of work.

Customer service is at Norwood’s core. He won Arch-Con’s Customer Service Award in his second year at the company and has been named a finalist multiple times.

“Matt is the ultimate team player, leading with a servant leadership mindset and a work ethic that is second to none,” Director of Operations Joe Froyd said. “He consistently puts others first, takes care of his team and clients, and delivers results while elevating those around him.”
